Quality control

We test our tape in-house so it performs the same on your line from one order to the next.

What we test

These checks are carried out in our factory on production batches.

  1. Fibre tear

We apply the tape, let it dry and pull it off. A good bond tears paper fibres rather than lifting cleanly, which shows the gum has keyed into the surface.

  2. Open time

How long the gum stays tacky after it is moistened. Veneer lines need fast grab; carton sealing needs enough time to position the tape. We set the gum for the job.

  3. Blocking

Rolls are checked to make sure layers do not stick to each other in storage, so the tape unwinds cleanly.

  4. Tensile strength

The tape is pulled to check it is strong enough not to snap on the dispenser or the veneer machine.

Materials

  • Paper: high-strength kraft paper from trusted mills
  • Gum: water-activated adhesive, prepared in-house to our own formula
  • Width and length: slit and wound to the specified width and 244 m roll length for veneer tape
